Welcome to Small Steps to Wellbeing in Essex; Reflexology for health, relaxation and renewal
Hi, I'm Sue and after having my two children, I decided not to return to work in the travel industry but to seek a more relaxing profession. After having reflexology myself to help with stress and anxiety, I decided I needed to share this wonderful treatment. I completed my exams in 2007 and joined the Association of Reflexologists as a full member. Due to Covid and caring for a family member I took a break, but I'm now practicing again and enjoying this wonderful therapy. I have an ABC level 3 diploma in reflexology, a level 1 and advance level 2 in facial reflexology (trained by Ziggy Bergman) and reflexology for menopause (trained by Sally Earlem). I am continuing to learn new skill and techniques.
My approach is to provide a holistic and personalised service to each of my clients. I believe that Reflexology is not about treating the symptoms of a particular condition but treating the whole body. My treatments are designed to help restore balance to the body, and promote overall well-being. Treatments are suitable for people of all ages and can help to support a wide range of conditions.
Every treatment will include an initial health and lifestyle consultation to help devise a suitable treatment plan. All information is confidential and will be treated in accordance with the Data Protection Act.
Treatments take place on my amazing, comfortable reflexology chair. No need to undress, just take your shoes and socks off!
Reflexology is a technique that applies gentle pressure to your feet, hands or face. These points correspond to the organs and glands in the body. By applying pressure and massaging these points it can stimulate energy pathways. If any energy pathways are blocked reflexology aims to unblock them, allowing the energy to flow freely again to restore balance. It brings about a state of relaxation and help the body's own healing process.

It is usually safe to have Reflexology alongside conventional medicine, but if you are currently having any medical treatment, please speak to me or your GP before booking an appointment.
The Menopause is a natural change in the female reproductive system that normally occurs between the ages 41 and 55, although perimenopausal symptoms may occur earlier. The body can react to the loss of hormones through several varying symptoms which can include: hot flushes, night sweats, tiredness, depression, weight gain, anxiety, poor concentration, memory lapses.
Some women are happy to take medication such as HRT whilst many others prefer to go down the holistic therapy route or use both. Reflexology has been found to be very effective in helping both the physical and emotional symptoms of the menopause. It can also help reduce the stress that causes a lot of symptoms.

Along with the well-known health and wellbeing benefits of traditional foot reflexology, facial reflexology also has the added advantage of revitalising your face and improving your complexion.
Due to the proximity of the facial reflex sites to the brain and central nervous system, facial reflexology has the ability to create profound states of relaxation.
I specialise in the Bergman Method of Facial Reflexology.
What can reflexology do?
Reflexology helps reduce the stresses and tensions that come with busy lifestyles, giving us a space to reflect on the mind as well as the body. I do not treat the illness, but I treat you, the person. I help to support you and in turn offer:
Increased relaxation
Release of tension
Improved sleep
Improved mood
Increased wellbeing
Please bear in mind that reflexologist do not diagnose or prescribe but work alongside conventional medicine to help many symptoms and promote general wellbeing.
How many treatments will I need?
Reflexology can sometimes be immediately effective or require multiple appointments due to individual differences; nevertheless, results are typically noticeable after four to five sessions. Frequent weekly treatments are optimal for the body to initiate the self-healing process correctly however this is something we can discuss during your first treatment.
What happens in a treatment?
Reflexology is performed entirely on the feet, face or hands. During the treatment the client lies on their back on a reclining chair, supported by pillows and covered with a soft blanket to keep them warm.
Many of my clients come to me with sensitive feet or with concerns about having their feet handled, but they soon discover that they can unwind and get the rewards of reflexology.
I am based in Romford, Essex. I also see clients from the surrounding areas such as Hornchurch, Brentwood, Upminster, and Chigwell.
FOOT REFLEXOLOGY TREATMENT

£25 for half an hour
During your treatment, I will refresh your feet with hot steamy towels then use organic reflexology cream to work on balancing the reflexes with pressure techniques so that you can drift off into a state of relaxation.
FACIAL REFLEXOLOGY

After gently cleansing and relaxing the muscles of your face with hot towels, I will apply an organic facial oil. During the treatment I use gentle pressure to stimulate reflex points on the face incorporating massage.
